Description

Dear Friends Apologies for my absence. We were without Internet again this weekend... You've got to love Africa sometimes!!! I also really battled with the cold sore, but luckily it's better and busy healing now. I captured this male lion at the Rhino and Lion Park about 45km from my house. It is a small reserve and although the animals roam freely, they do get fed rather than hunting. This guy just finished feeding - clearly visible when you look at the bulging tummy and blood stains on his face... He walked away from the pride and seeked shelter from the sun in the shade of a little tree almost just as tall as him!!! Wishing you all a roaring week. Hugs, Carin xx

Ha! He does look quite sated. :-) Same as most men I know... eat until they are about to burst open and then curl up for a nap. This is a fabulous shot. You don't say how close you were, but I'd say you were braver than I. This guy looks so content. wow.

Terrific capture of the magnificent feline, with that ruffled mane -- he looks he's being electrically shocked -- and blood flecks on his face, Carin! He apparently enjoyed his repast with gigantic gusto. That must have some cold sore to keep you so indisposed. Hope its much better. You have been sorely missed, both in your uploads and comments.

Makes me want to rub his nose and tummy...well, maybe not. Beautiful cat, and I hope you weren't as close as it appears from this shot!
