I don't think they're saying "Welcome to the party", do you? :) He was livid and she was hopping mad!
One moment they act like they are about to go to war, the next mintue they are all peacefully eating together.
Such is the behavior of the feisty finch, goldfinches acting much the same way as the house finch.

Beautifully caught captures and it is amazing how they all fight and then make up, a bit like humans really. I guess if it was me I'd defend my patch too.

i don't know how you capture these moments. I love taking candid bird shots like this but can never get anything a sharp as this! I love the 'expressions' and poses of the birds!
