ANOTHER canal photo. Sorry for being so repetitive, I'll get some new material soon I hope. Anyhow, I like this shady spot along the waterways. There are actually some boats in the boathouses as well - I guess not everyone is out on the lake. The highlights are a little blown out, but I like the contrast of the dark branch across the bright background.
I kept the file somewhat large so please click on it to get the full resolution view. I think you'll be glad you did. Thanks!

Wonderful work! The contrast between the sky and the rest is just magnificent.

Beautiful shot.....

I immediately was attracted to the contrast of the blue sky with the cover on that boat, nearest. You have a great balance of color in this and the composition sends the eye from top to front to back and to bottom nicely.

This is superlative Kort, I can see why you are hooked on this whole IR ethos, it's magical, and this is a beautiful example. As a side note Kort, I shot the crystal abstract last night, two more figurines to go to end the series, then I'll post it :)

I really like this technique you're using, but I'm on the fence about the blown out portion in the middle. It makes the comp too center heavy, though the tree limb does break that down, and I agree the sky is a wonderful contrast. Overall, excellent work.

Brilliant Kort, not just the IR but the whole POV DOF and lots of other letters!

"Sorry for being so repetitive" One of these days will you hit upon the essence in one image perhaps? That is one of the trouble with photography, isn't it? Anyway the shade on the right adds. The Illinois and Michigan Canal made Chicago. What kind of canal is it? For transport of goods? One mule can pull a canal boat of the kind Melville rode--one mule and not even exerting itself. Canals were not built to house suburbanites, nor even to house catfish.

No matter how many times you shoot this canal, the images turn out great! Oh yea, and all those letters David spoke about!

Oh no! Not another canal photo! Surely there must be some subject matter out there that we have not been yet exposed to through your magic lens! A UFO, crop circle, alien and/or a lake monster, maybe? Be that as it may, this is an extremely magnificent compositional concept, Kort!
