Description

Again for a weekly forum contest at ImagineFx titled Ace In The Hole. Used photo reference from falln-stock http://falln-stock.deviantart.com/ and dragon-orb http://dragon-orb.deviantart.com/ at deviantART . both have some really interesting and useful images to work from. So here is the lovely Callisto "Calico" MacKenna grow up in Buckskin, a wild west town that never was in the Colorado foothills. Mother was a noted beauty and owned the best saloon in the region. Her father is unknown but is rumored to have been in the army and now is playing politics back east. This wild west world has a true Indian nation on the west side of the Rockie Mountains, magic and things left better not said in front of children and wimmen folk. So when trouble comes a callin in Buckskin, Calico not only wants an ace-in-the-hole but a fist full of them. Makes things more easier on everyone that way. Amen. I like the expression on her face. This is a gal who gets the job done, and isn't afraid to fight dirty if need be. Great work and storyline.

i love the composition and the contrasts. the juxtaposition of elements is kind of creepy. i find the expression on her face psychopathic in conjunction with the hanging man behind her. the image combines a sense of humor and fun with the macabre and violence. technically, i like the detail of her clothes with the flat design of her hair. the cards and the coat give the image motion, and the gun and her face give the image stability.
