Statue of St Benedict.
The statue was almost untouched by the destruction sustained by the Abbey in 1944.Made of Carrera marble by Campi in 1736. An inscription on the base reads:
"Benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini" -"Blessed be he who came in the Name of the Lord"

nice capture of the rhythm of arches, their shadows and their deep open spaces. And nice capture of the statue in front, caught nicely in the angle of the walls behind him. it's nice that, with the wear on the statue, the gold on the staff still remains. You've penetrated these spaces nicely in your series, and given glimpses of their expanse, even in the smallest areas. They feel expansive (& mysterious). Nice capture of that against the bright light of daytime...a very nice series.
