Description

Hello! I had a fabulous weekend away. I finally took the new camera and lenses out of the box and we had our first excursion. I don't know what I am doing, but I sure had fun! We spent a few days in Las Vegas and on one of those days we took a drive to the Red Rock area and around. LOL.. it was a great day. I hadn't planned on hiking or anything so I was wearing 'boot shoes' with a 2 inch heel... I hiked a bit anyway. I couldn't resist. And.... we got snowed on! This picture was taken when we pulled over to the side of the road, early in our trip. The clouds had started to come in and it was cold and gray. I did a little postwork. I hope you like it. It sure was a beautiful area... who knew this was just west of Las Vegas? Better than the town! Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my previous upload, "Character". I appreciate your time and love to read what you have to say. Comments for improvement or trying something different are always welcome. Have a great day~ Hugs, ~Melinda~

Sterling capture of the colors, tortuous crevasses and fissures in this fine shot, Melinda! Well, at least you weren't wearing those silly flip-flops that some of the other Renderosity members wear during their foto shoots in hazardous territory.

It took me a while to get around to seeing this, and I'm glad it did. Being a big science fiction nerd, I can see all sorts of "alien planet possibilities" in this. The rock structure is astounding and magnificent, and the colors are perfect. Stuff in the Las Vegas area is actually quite interesting, and I'm surprised it hasn't gotten as much attention as Sin City itself. Oh well...at any rate, this is a top notch piece of photographic work, and most definitely a favorite.

Great shot! These type formations with this coloration are all over the Superstition Mountain area in AZ. I ride motorcycles throughout the region and am always astounded by God's handiwork and His infinite palette of colors and shapes. Thanks for sharing.
