Description

Captured 1/21/09, very early in the AM, within walking distance of my deleterious digs. Oh no! Not another vehicle! We thought you'd got all that out of your system with the endless display of classic and vintage cars from the Concours d'elegance! Not to worry, folks. Tomorrow will begin another run of everyday garden-variety generic stuff. As for the truck above, a rare bird indeed, at least for me. I've encountered many F-150s, F-350s, F-450s, even some F-550s, during my travels, but this is the first time I came upon one of these stalwarts. I was truly stunned to see it. In fact, I had thought all along that the F-650 was a myth, like the Loch Ness Monster and Sasquatch...which may not be myths after all. The Ford F-650, a commercial truck, was first introduced by Ford in 2000, replacing the F-600. Though it is made mainly for use as a utilitarian truck for towing, heavy hauling, construction, and offered at Ford's official site under commercial vehicles, the aftermarket has made the F-650 into a premium truck similar to the International CXT. It is a Class 6/7 truck, intended to appeal to businesses and municipalities. The current (2008-09) version retains the dashboard and interior introduced with the current cab style in 1998 rather than the revised interior of the 2008 F250-550 Super Duty line; both Ford (with the 1967 cab's 1973 facelift and the 1980 cab's 1987 and 1991 facelifts) and GM (with the 1988 cab's 1995 facelift) have a history of doing this. Thankx for coming by, and have a halcyon hump day.

I have never gotten the point of that, raising a car or truck, but to each his own huh, aren't these the same drivers that always want to tailgate with their bright lights shined right on you. does it come with a ladder to get in and out of it... Cool find Harry~~

First F-650 for me too. The saddest thing is when the guy who buys this expects his wife to use it to take the baby to the grocery store and do the weekly shopping while he puts his feet up on the couch. I'd add a smile here but it really happens.

I know nothing about cars or trucks, but this is sure a fine capture! I'll take your word on the vintage of this model and what it means to people who are in the know...what I do know is you got both shots in wonderful pov's, you caught the real presence of this truck. I luuuuv that suspension, like it's showing off, like "catch this pose, jack!". I love (top shot) how you caught its roof on-level with the house's; and in the bottom, how you gave it just enough angle to give it drama. Also the shot seems bleached a bit, I don't know (I'm not a photographer, be merciful if I'm way off!); but I like it because it accentuates the silvery white of the truck. I love this shot. I'll be back for more. (And I live in Chicago; and while chicken feed—ala Jodie—was once common in this old swampland, today I haven't even seen a chicken in 10 years. I'm told they exist though...But if someone told me a car could haul a lot of chicken feed, I wouldn't know if that was good or bad! I'll have to talk to Jodie about that. I saw a cow 10 years ago and I called the police...)
