Description

Just for a change - a different river. This is a part of the Kennet where it flows through Reading's newest shopping area, The Oracle. This was actually taken for my work. The survey team in my department were out taking flood limit observations and I was asked to cover the Kennet in the town centre. This was taken while the river was at it's peak of flooding and shows the public gathering area under about ten inches (250mm) of water. This is not the worst flooding we've ever had but they usually go out and take measurements for most flood incidents. ------------------------------- Original Photograph 11-Feb-2009

First time i've seen it that flooded, although I didn't really go to that part of town much. Still a good shot even if it was for work.

Nice contrast with the urban buildings around. The river is like a snake in the city.

I like it! The amount of times I've been to Reading, and never seen a flood like that!
