Description

It is hard to tell where the swamps are or the lakes at times around here. The lake here is low at this time ot the year. I was in a rental boat with moonrancher in the fall when i took this shot. the boat was moveing at the time. http://www.youtube.com/v/D85yrIgA4Nk This is a video of a homeless man in Santa Barbara and his pets. They work State Street every week for donations. The animals are pretty well fed and are mellow. They are a family. The man who owns them rigged up a harness for his cat so she wouldn't have to walk so much (like the dog and himself). At some juncture the rat came along, and as no one wanted to eat anyone else, the rat started riding with the cat and, often, on the cat! The dog, will stand all day and let you talk to him and admire him for a few chin scratches. The Mayor of Santa Barbara filmed this clip and sent it out as a holiday card. A great video .....a MUST watch! the video have nothing to do with Henderson. Thought dogs and cat and mice lovers will like it thanks for looking and comments trying to get a show together now so that why I not on much. sorry oh those are cypress trees. the stumps is cypress too which was cut around eary 1900's

Very nice scenic shot. I wonder if they left those standing cypress, so they could tell where the river channel cut through. If you take the boat into the swamp, you might be chugging mud. Ask me how I know. LOL. Great day, early the sun was nice and later we got all that moodiness. Almost like getting two different days.

Best animal video i have seen in years. #:o) A rat, on the back of a cat, on the back of a walking dog. That is art. Too bad the guy is homeless.. no one should be homeless in a rich world. But it has started in Denmark too.. damn government.. more and more homeless now. I hope the danes, in time, will learn to think before they vote. Love the swamp or river... Great capture from a moving boat i guess.. What really fascinate me.. is HOW thick, the trunks has become, below the daily water level... amzing and interesting.+5

An interesting capture, my friend. I like the broad, thick trunks leading up to the slender cypress. We have no shortage of water in Scotland, and I am sure never have had such a thing.. ';o) Unfortunately they old off many of the smaller, local reservoirs in the 1980s, so that there may well be a shortage in future years, especially to new housing developments. They build nice looking boxes, far from anywhere, and expect the local government body, and Scottish Water, who deal with water supply, sewerage and drains to somehow cope with them all. Warm regards, from a cold, dull Glasgow, John.

Great capture of the lake, which appears to be in a flooded state, Jock. Every time you mention Henderson, it reminds me of Henderson airfield on Guadalcanal during WWII.

Nice photo of these trees. I still find it amazing how they can grow in the middle of a body of water like this. What's also cool is that you can see on the trees where the high-water mark is. This lake must really fill up during the flood season!

I like this photograph. The trees are wonderful, and of course we don't have any big trees that grow in water like that up here, so it looks exotic to me! :) Thanks for the link ... great video!
