Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Oh my. This is absolutely stunning, Bill. It looks like you used a shoebox filter, and it works REALLY well with this image, especially combined with the blue. Wow. You have a fabulous eye - more of this sort of thing from you would be a treat!

It's not without it's charms, but I find it a bit depressing!!! I think it may remind me of funerals!

So beautiful and elegant postwork of this beautiful flower!!! Great idea!!! :)

This works fir me because of the delicate shadings amid the high-contrast roses. Did you try other hues?

well as a part-time digital painter, I'm with you 1000%. Filters are easy, but art is hard, and the key with filters is to use them for art not simply 'effects', using them as you would the lens or as a painter would the brush...This is artistic filtering, you really got an essence with it, rather than added an effect. Andrea's response is gut honest, because she's picking up some of the dark mystery of your transformation. And you did a sensitive job with lighting, because you allowed the lower half to be swallowed in the blues (ie, you didn't rush to correct it or make it more defined, etc)—it made the flowers appear as if they're arising out of a great blue abyss. Beautiful work, and a fav for both rose shots.

Mmmmmmmm. I have looked at it for nearly 5 minutes now and I'm afraid it didn't grow! Sorry mate.... But you know me! Ha! Love the original though. Wish I'd have taken it.... Rob.

Oh I agree with what's being said, I think the results are quite pleasing and that's important!

Very interesting effect you have achieved here, Bill. I like the way it fades as it goes down, and the rose buds show so prominently.

Just like a C41 negative, I like it, blue being my fave colour helps :)

Black flowers in a blue world feels abstract and surreal to me. A piece of paper this is printed on, is curled from wetness, and floats on a river after a flood.

Awesome shot and postwork!

The effect is really unique. It took a moment to get used to it but then I found, like you, it became very appealing. Fabulous job with this.

That semiamorphous blue ambiance really puts this into the dream category. Excellent! Yay filters!

This gives them quite a different feel, as if they are coming out of a blue mist.

This is so pretty. I really like what you did with it. Both pictures are beautiful.
