Description

I took Matthew to the ice rink to get more practice in his new ice skates. When we arrived the rink was filled with families playing a fast paced game of hockey. Since Matthew is a beginner we decided not to join the game, but to cross the street to the park. This turned out great since we'd had two days of rain making some very sizey puddles in the park. That was followed by a few days of deep cold allowing some connecting puddles to be frozen quickly and as clear as glass. So, we had our own private rink winding between some well established trees. The ice was amazingly smooth. Matthew could see his own tracks left by his blades and also his own reflection. Thanks for looking and have a great Wednesday. Wow, that refrozen ice makes for wonderful reflections, Jodie. Stellar silhouetting of Matthew and the trees against the dour sky. Love that wicked tree in the middle just to the right of your son.

Jodie, it's the hues, it's the tones, you get these soft introspective tones, you just see them & capture them & they're subtle & wonderful. This is subtly graced by silvery gray & oh-so-slight blueish undertones, and they're wonderful. And you have diffuse winter light, that diffuse sky dissolving the tree-outlines just enough to make them shimmer a bit. And you allowed deep dark shadows which set off the silvery hues the way black velvet does to diamonds. This is beautiful. A fav, pure Minnesota winter at its best (and i'm goin' around posting doodles! Sheeez!) (btw: What are "well established trees"? Are those trees that made a fortune at Lloyds of London and live in the Hamptons?) (just had to ask...)
