Description

At the entrance to the Carmelite Monastery**, there's this statue of Mary, with an old boat in the background. It appealed to me greatly, something about the whole scene seeming so unlikely. **click heremonastery

Extraordinary capture, it has everything, Bold and raw alongside innocence and holiness! Well noticed Marilyn.

Gilligan's Island comes to my mind. More likely there is a deeper meaning... having to do with ship wrecked lives, and the lot. I like it too...makes you think.

Bizarre but oddly beautiful. I LOVE the restricted colour!

I bet Bill was right, something to do with shipwrecked lives, considering they put sea-like things around the boat...it's a wonderful juxtaposition regardless, and really, the stuff photos are made of. (Capturing the unlikely in one vision, one frame.) And I agree with andrea, there's a restricted sense of color here...kind of bleached, kind of quiet, maybe to complement the monastery...It's a nice shot, Marilyn, you caught her in the perfect spot, everything around her feels right; a nice sandy tone too...thanks for this. It's not something I would've associated with the Carmelites!

The power of the Lord out in front of everything else in chains of bondage, speaks volumes this!

I don't know the story of Mary and the Boat. New one... could be she was one of the survivors of the Minnow? LOL Cool shot.

Although most incongruous, superlative POV, clarity, colors, lighting and textures in this fine capture, M! That said, I'll let the others go into the inner meaning of all this.

Fascinating photo and well spotted, yes there is something sort of surreal about it and this is one of the best photo's I think I've seen in a long time. It sort of leaves one thinking about life. Tony.
