Description

This is the most wonderful little grotto. There's an arch over the statue and the inside of it is lined with abalone shells. The background has sand dollars imbedded in it. Another reason why the Carmelite Monastery is such a peaceful, serene place~~there are all kinds of places to sit and meditate, think, pray, whatever feels right at the moment. It all overlooks the ocean as well, which only adds to the feeling.

Very nice image. Only been in one grotto in my life and that was King Ludwig's in Bavaria but the feeling was much the same. Another world, a retreat, ...hidden away from the reality of everyday hustle and bustle. Sounds good, doesn't it?

So now we have Mary and the boar, Mary and the seashells... did you happen to get Mary and her little lamb, too? :-) Great pov and compo here. A vast array of textures and items.

Stellar lighting effects, colors and textures in this composition of the statue of your Mary, alongside abalone shells which to me look like little turtles.

This is just gorgeous. It may be my favorite shot from your trip there.

nice enclosed shot, the shells on one side bring home the "cloistered" feeling very nicely. You may know but just in case you don't, 'cloister' is related to our words 'close' and 'closet'—it was supposed to be close, intimate, protected. Your shots bring that home. I want to go there now...and I like the sandy feeling too. Your lighting allowed that to come out naturally...
