Description

Sometimes you put things together that have nothing to do with each other, but you gotta do it anyway... The doodles were old pencil sketches: I stuck 'm in Photoshop, they showered & made friends with a sharpen-filter & came out demanding an upload. Their names (top to bottom) are: Lief, Raoul, Trixie and The Empress Xiao-Xien. (That's right. She's an empress, don't ask...) The last piece was from Lynell's barn (see last post)--only I made it into an old-style postcard based on folk art. Just wanted to do it, that's all... That's it, folks: 4 doodles & a postcard! Hope they're fun to look at!
* * * * * * Thanks for all your visits, and have a great Wednesday! Mark (Doodles: Pencils & PS. Postcard: Inks & watercolors.)

That is what it is all about, Mark....."JOY IN THE MAKING!" I had that as my department philosophy when I was teaching.

Well Mark as always I love the images you come up with while doodling around and these are no exception. Each one is so bright and expressive leading me to believe they were done during a happy time. The last one is another great idea as I love postcards and it is great the way you converted one of your images for Lynell into one.

Somehow these all work well together! Very tactile. I wish i could reach through my monitor and touch them and feel their soft surfaces. Great stuff ,Mark.

The postcard is so "quaint"- looks like a woodburning- and Trixie-my favorite who knows why- looks possibly like a beach from overhead, but so "stable" compositionally... But I particularly like your "just wanted to do it" attitude and will try to emulate it today.

Your work is always fantastic, Mark. This one is no exception. I think it is because you are the personality, of which you are. Leonardo Da Vinci once said, that the spirit need to work with the hand, to be able to create art. And that is the discipline, of which you master. I also think that is the reason... that no matter what you do.. it will always come out great.. your own style always shine throughout your work. The simplicity of your work makes it very powerful. Yet again, it proves that simple things very often are the most powerful. I especially like the top image, and the old barn, on this fine postcard. Since i work on tattoos for my new V4.2 character... i really fell in love with the image on the top. I actually think it would make the coolest tattoo. What do you know.. i can even find inspiration here. #:o) Your work is always amazing, Mark.. keep it up.+5

You are so inventive my friend! The first three make a very nice triptych, the barn version certain recalls a wood block print, very nice.

In many cases friends are different but always go together, perhaps to celebrate a party at the barn. Excellent illustration!!!

I wouldn't treat them in separate. merging simple things into a wonder one needs to have a very special talent, and you do have it, Mark

I have thought on these pieces and mulled them through my brain and have concluded that your doodles are related to the barn despite the fact that it claims to be an old post card. If I look at them ever so closely I can see the relationship within the colors. Now the barn is a clever fellow and has disguised itself so that we can't see the hidden colors. Awesome work and just so great. This makes for lots of fun with trying to figure out who is related to who.

It just shows what a talented artist you are, to come up with such amazing doodles as this, and yes the old barn that I loved in your previous work, came back too. You should write a book dear Mark all about you and your art, it would sell in its millions of that I am sure. hugs Jane xx

the barn is great, as the other one was! but that bunch of sketches is wonderful to see again, maybe i will put together something like this too, you make me want to do something similar, its refreshing to see them all together yet each one has a different basic approach :)

Great colours and I especially like the barn. The whole image tells a story about the barn and its setting.

That first line is interesting. Scrolling down you think, "ah, what a tasty fire...!" All of which leads nicely to that home of many colors (which is a barn on a farm, and not exactly a rainbow, but carries such great emotion ;)

How lovely, the barn is just perfect and the other parts are like a combination of sunlight, a cute window and the happiness all mixed together ;O)

Here I sit staring as I am entranced by these doodles. I'm so glad they showered (lol) and made friends. They're all just a little different from each other but go together splendidly. I love that the barn is at the very bottom as a stabilizing factor for the other - as they seem a bit lighter and free floating. if I saw this framed and ready in these colors I would buy it for my kitchen. It has a very folksy look to it. My roosters would love it, too.
