Description
In truth, I can tell roses from thistles, but I didn't know roses can blossom even in winter (I don't know about thistles). There were also buds waiting for their turn. Anyway, some of you can tell me whether this one was a particularly resilient flower or it's normal. :-D
Those of you with a green thumb can help me improve my botanical knowledge. I took the picture because I liked both the aesthetic contrast of colors and the stubborn life force of the rose.

Different roses are bred and climatized for different situations. Some will bloom in winter occassionally if the dampness doesn't freeze the tender petals or turn them brown and mushy. Others only bloom until the first frost and no more until spring. I have seen roses bloom in winter, but usually the many buds never make it to open up. This really is lovely with the snow in the background.
