Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

oh you caught some really fine details, the grain of the stone, the mortar cutting right across that flower in the center (that brings home that we are looking at stone & not just a flower, a juxtaposition that I happen to love...), the hand-carved markings on the leaves, and the pile up of sculpted forms in the background...a lovely capture showing complexity...It's wonderful when you start looking at details when you have your camera, because you see that there are worlds waiting in even one place. I had a feeling, from your first shot of the monastery that you were going to post a bunch of these, I'm glad you did, each one is a little world of its own...

Had you shot from far off the careful strokes taken by that long ago mason would not be visible. I love this. I can see him perched with his lunch scrutinizing his work, wondering where to make his next cut.
