Description

"Norris was the first Tennessee Valley Authority hydroelectric project, begun in October 1933 and finished in March 1936 on the Clinch River is 1860 feet long and 265 feet high. The project relocated approximately 2900 families and caused the removal of over 5,000 gravesites."* The dam also prevented severe flooding which was the norm for the river prior to construction. The lake above the dam is where I was fortunate to see the release of a rehabilitated Osprey in 2008. My gallery photo of the release at least shows the birds tummy and feet! *text taken from http://www.tngenweb.org/tva/NorrisDam/norris.php

I wonder what Daniel Boone would have made of it!! I am certain the sight of an Osprey would have gladdened his heart!

I grew up around Norris Lake. I remember when you could actually get to the water without walking through someones yard. My Favorite place was Lynch Hollow. I have 13 acres in Cedar Creek.
