Been doing this over a year now and I'm still not quite sure how to define it. Is it art or not? Can we be said to be really creating our images, given that we're using computer programs and models made by others? And, for that matter, what is its official title? Personally I call my work "using Daz Studio because of a total inability to draw or paint." It doesn't exactly trip off the tongue. I suppose it doesn't matter in the end. As PG Wodehouse said, it makes me happy and keeps me out of public houses.
My main influences are Manet, Edward Hopper, Caravaggio and Pieter Bruegel. The first two gave me an interest in realism, the third created an addiction to light and shade, and the last nurtured my overall misanthropy.

Why Is This Here?
All my renders are there, including the ones I hate. There's also a rag-bag of assorted writings and photos.
I've also recently started a blog about this whole business:
Can't Paint Can't Draw
Thanks to everyone who's submitted Free Stuff to this site - especially some of the wonderful Vicky textures. Sorry to anyone who I don't credit. It's down to the disorganisation of my hard drive rather than an evil heart.

Well I like it Andrew as those gloomy suburbs you speak of can often times hold so many mysteries

very good I enjoy your image because you don't spell everything out you leave it ot the viewer to make there own story and there own perceptions of what is happening. Maybe that is why the great artist of the ages seem so great today. Most of them in there day and age were just like porttrait painters and worked for commision and for a living but most died broke and realtivley unknown to the populace. Van Goth for instance But now when we look at there work and WE have to make up our own mind about what the artist was thinking or the message he was trying to convey! and see such deeper mewaning in it than even the artitist did we he painted it! I think i've hit on something! anyway well done!

I do like the dark, somewhat oppressive lighting and move and the idea of escaping this setting, this life. Very nice render!
