Description

Captured 2/28/09, very early in the morning, about 1.25 miles/2.01 kilometers from my languid lodge. Sneak factor: zero. I was originally going to make this one of three photos in a collage of the same species, but felt that would detract from its singular impact. And, I place this in the mystery flower category until one or more of the gracious horticultural connoisseurs in the audience can tell me/us what species it represents, and then I'll change the title. I could spend time researching through my one and only floral book for its identification but really don't have the time or incentive to do so. Thankx for popping in, and have a star-spangled Sunday. Okay, petunia it is! That didn't take long for our resourceful botanical bon vivants to come forward and identify this. Thank you so very much for being out there!

Yep, petunia it is! Love their crepey-drapey petals, and you've even captured the water drops clinging to them...beautiful!

Gorgeous white trumpet. I use to suck a nectar of this flower when I was young, good memories.

This is spectacularly beautiful! The white is perfect, and you've captured every bit of detail with nothing blown out. I think your choice to post this alone was a good one. It deserves the spotlight.

Lovely. Looks wonderful at the zoom. All the tiny water droplets are clear as a bell.

And what a lovely petunia this is!! Wonderful light and shadow to highlight the dew on the petals, and not a bit blown out on the whites! Well done, Harry!!

Oh yes I love white petunias, they look so good next to the coloured ones. Thank you for this beautiful image Harry, it makes me wish for the summer even more, and when I grow my own Petunias in the many pots around my small garden. Great shot, hugs Jane xx
