The bright red fungus (left) is the vivid "scarlet cup fungus" (Sarcoscypha coccinea), a striking fungus found occasionally in moist forests of the Pacific northwest. There may be at least 200,000 species of fungi still waiting to be described. http://waynesword.palomar.edu/ww0504.htm Beautiful shot my friend, sucha bold outrageous colour

It's the Scarlet Elf Cup, Sarcoscypha coccinea. Early winter to early spring, and much commoner in the West than where you are, Kevin! It's edible, and would make a handsome addition to a very green salad! and what a SUPERB pic of it!

Very nice specimen of Aleuria aurantia (for europeans like us), or orange peel fungus. Edible, ever raw in salads, but rather to add color and fun than for its taste. A high quality shot.
