Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Cool shot of the dunes with coastal range way back there. Bet somebody was batting the ball and it sailed out of sight...not to be found until you came along. Neat.

great landscape!

Looks like the ball has a tether or loop of tubing attached. I thought it was a street light at first.

very interesting shot.

Nice misty mood shot, M. And do my eyes deceive me or is there a hot game of croquet going on? What an unusual area...hardly what one would consider a playing field; all hilly, slopey and such.

That was right out of the park for sure! Excellent shot and fortuitious find!

love the comments. Bill has it—real photography stuff: That ball may have been lost forever, and it took you to come along and find it. ("Finding the photograph in the room"...) Also, harry points out that playing ball in that landscape could be a litttttttttttle iffy...not exactly a well-groomed field! It's a desolate shot, almost end of the world, and that black brush and sunken fence: Real desolation. Amazing stuff Marilyn. But by titling it "Play Ball," you've given it a whole new focus: We're looking at a tiny piece of human life in a desert-landscape. It's what some art writers called "the title becoming part of the art". That's exactly what you did—we respond to your title & the shot all at once. I love this.
