In the Eternal Balance there is Law, Chaos and the centerpoint - Balance.
Part three of the Trio of Chaos, Law and Balance - I give you Dragon and her loyal companion she calls "Pretty Boy", who, when not fighting for or with his mistress resides in a tattoo that adorns her back.
While she represents Law in the scheme of the triad, if one were to look at the domain she rules, a desolate, centerpoint of universes and time known as The Ether. A land bereft of much life save for that which resides in the Doom Forest and the Black Tower, Dragon's citadel.
The land itself is scorched, parched and cracked. Destitute of even the most sparse foliage. This, in part, can be credited to the reign of terror that resides in a dark cavern near the Tower. An ancient black dragon called Selano. She acts much as the equivalent of the Norse Chaos God, Loki, chambered in her den guarding her hellish offspring, until the Ether is overturned. She singularly scorched the lands of the Ether to be a barren and bleak land and occasionally wreaks her havoc on the Black Tower itself.
The Tower, a massive, and the ONLY structure, within the plane of the Ether that Dragon draws her base from, is an obsidian black tower guarded by a moat of lava. The only way into it's shadowed hallways is a rickety (at best) drawbridge that seems to deteriorate with every passing moment but never quite manages to vanish. And once within, is no assurance that an uninvited or unescorted guest would be able to find their way around -- smooth, glassy black hallways are the only paths to the rooms within.
At the heart of the Ether's defenses are Guardians of the Ether Mistress Aria and Master Ronin - Avian's (winged warriors) that stand as the Tower's primary line of defense -- with Dragon as the overall commander of it all. Ronin, the Captain of the Guard, and Aria the Commander of the Ethereal Undead army -- consisting of dead warriors, nightmares, wraiths, ghosts and all manner of nightmarish creatures that make the Ether their home.
Dragon is the Guardian of the land and of the portals that it controls. It is known that only she can open portals to the Ether, but portals therefrom can be opened into any realm....even the lands of Magic and Dreams are not bound by the laws of normality that would usually forbid this.
She was created from the essence of the Ether to serve as it's protector and to keep the base of all universal portals from falling completely into Chaos, and so she is acutely in tune with her land and can feel when there is a shift in it's power and if it is in any danger of being attacked.
There are splinter portions of the Ether that are used by both Darkness and The One, as well as Dragon herself, to serve as, in essence, inescapable prisons for those that even the truly Divine see as being a threat to the Balance.

A character from an ongoing role play, Dragon is the other end of the spectrum from Synn and a staunch ally of Good and the Lawful. Again, a being of magic, she prefers her human form save for when fighting, then a massive, sinuous golden dragon is her preferred form. A master of her own brand of Ethereal Magic, since the Ether has been under her Guardianship, it has never been successful invaded. And Dragon plans to keep it that way.
Darkness' creation, on the other hand...well, that is another matter.
