Description

Ingleborough is one of the principal hills of the Yorkshire Dales. Here it's seen from the slopes of its higher neighbour, Whernside.

Excellent shot, however I have a querie. Which hill are you referring to as Pen-y-Ghent? The reason I ask is that to my certain knowledge the flat topped hill in the right hand background is Ingleborough well known for its distinctive shape. Pen-y-Ghent on the other hand is more similar in shape to the other hils to the left with some distinctive crags along its southern edges. Forgive me for asking but I toured the dales frequently in my cycling days and was quite familiar with the area and your lovely shot brings back many happy memories.

You know, I think that you're right and that I've misidentified the panorama. I've been studying the map and the angle would be roughly correct, plus Pen-y-Ghent is actually twice as far away. I took the two distinct steeper falls of the southern spur to be the defining profile of Pen-y-Ghent, and thus believed that the hill to the right is Plover Hil. In fact it must be Simon Fell. I even have this image as the current desktop wallpaper on my laptop so therefore I see it just about every day. It just goes to show how easy it is to fool yourself. Thanks ever so for pointing this out. I'll edit the image title and narrative.
