Description
One of the many famous sights in Oxford City centre is Hertford Bridge, also known as the Bridge of Sighs, which was designed by Thomas Graham Jackson.
The bridge connects the two quads of Hertford College and was built, surprisingly, in 1914.
The college was originally founded as Hart Hall in 1282 and became Hertford College in 1740. Due to financial problems, the College's buildings were taken over by Magdalen Hall (not related to the similarly named Magdalen College).
Magdalen Hall was founded in 1448. The combined Hertford College/Magdalen Hall was finally re-established once again as a full college in 1874.
