Hello! My name is Jodie. I live in Minnesota where the temps can fluxuate by 20 degrees in one day. Most of my photos have been taken very close to my home, a 10 acre hobby farm., where I raise Alpacas and chickens. I am a band director, a musician/singer and a photographer/adviser on the yearbook committee. My camera of choice is a Nikon. I have a D90 and a D70. I also have a SB800 flash and favorite lens is Nikon 18-200mm AF-S, with VR. Revisiting the visual arts is something I should have done years ago. If I see something remarkable, I just try to capture it. Nobody else will ever see it quite that way again so I hope you try that, too. This is just like expensive therapy for us.  Thank you for visiting and may you have a peaceful day!Â

Chilly photo!

Hopefully a body won't rise to the top with the spring thaw ;O) Very interesting shot. I have never seen anyone suggest that cubism got its inspiration from nature, but this picture makes me wonder... Perhaps a new art theory can be created around this idea. Hey, perhaps a government grant of some sort ;o) All kidding aside, another nice shot.

Wow, that is so cool! (and yes, literally, too!) Very well spotted!

Unique ambiance in this photo of the cracking and splintered ice, which would qualify as an abstract in my book, Odie! Looks like shards of broken glass lying on top of a bed of mud. And, I like that fault line running north and south.

Excellent capture.

I like the "Cubism" in your title, and duncan's comment about cubism & nature (cubism does have a lot in common with nature, I think), and I love Harry's comment too ("broken glass lying on top of a bed of mud"). There's a lot of texture here, esp. visible on the sides where the light isn't as direct; and it's wonderful the way the ice emerges & submerges where, in spots, it's almost 'ghosts' rather than actual ice. The fault line is wonderful too. This is terrific seeing, Jodie, and just re-emphasizes that photography is a matter of finding the photograph beneath our own feet. ("There are miracles beneath my feet, if I only bother to pick them up..." an old mystical saying.) Wonderful. And a must, full-view. A little ice pond, and it's got a whole world inside it waiting for you to capture it for us...

Very appropriate title with a tongue in cheek bend, lending meaning to the display. Lovely textures Jodie. Brrrrr...

it must be very cold over there, it looks like a surrealist picture, nice idea well captured !
Enmos
Cool shot with the crack coming towards the viewer ! The light also reflects just right off the ice :) Excellent work !

Was going to say this was cool!! I think we share the same whacky sense of humour.. Seriously an interesting image and surely we get all our inspiration in art from nature.

Looks almost unreal, nature offers surreal reality.:-)

Really impressive. I would suggest cropping off the top 1/5 and slightly on the sides to give it an even more abstract feel and better compo.
