Hello! My name is Jodie. I live in Minnesota where the temps can fluxuate by 20 degrees in one day. Most of my photos have been taken very close to my home, a 10 acre hobby farm., where I raise Alpacas and chickens. I am a band director, a musician/singer and a photographer/adviser on the yearbook committee. My camera of choice is a Nikon. I have a D90 and a D70. I also have a SB800 flash and favorite lens is Nikon 18-200mm AF-S, with VR. Revisiting the visual arts is something I should have done years ago. If I see something remarkable, I just try to capture it. Nobody else will ever see it quite that way again so I hope you try that, too. This is just like expensive therapy for us.  Thank you for visiting and may you have a peaceful day!Â

Just shows you the path created by people treading their way between the tress that created the dip, Nice one Jodie, I would be very surprized to get any decent shots straight out the cam in these lighting conditions, ya did good!

Really nice shot..interesting textures and gentle reflections.

Very interesting shot. Great lines of view.

Nice shot... I like the title, which would also be ideal for a book (I think): The Icy Patch to Bench :o)

I love that meandering trail of ice, what a great find!

EXCELLENT image... and good luck at that 'right out of the camera' thing. with outdoor pics just having the histogram lie within the confines of the sensor's ability is all i ever hope for. in fact i'd rather like a 'flat' image' (out of the camera) and so would most of the photographers i know.

Great shot!!

Very interesting debate you may start here about post work vs. straight out the box photography. I believe a good pic can be enhanced, a bad pic can't be made a good pic no matter how much post work. I like the way you made the tall trees work for you instead of distract from your composition.

A wonderful view ! Well done ! :)

Impressive shot, fantastic POV. Looks cold there.

So interesting!

At least the kids had a place to sit and rest their weary bums after falling a few times! Sweet shot and must be fun meandering through the trees on skates!

A stellar POV employed, plus super clarity, in this capture of the many ways and byways taken by the frozen puddle as it ventures up to the bench in this fine foto, Jodie! Love the textures of the tree trunk bark. In contrast to your RAW efforts, I strive to take pictures that I can postwork. Even if one comes out perfect right out of the camera, I'm always seeking ways to enhance it in some fashion.

Awesome capture Jodie.

well you know how I feel about your camera sensibilities...this is a beautiful modulated shot, and the postwork barely shows. This is another one of your shots where the hues all seem speak with the same accent: They're wintry, diffuse & quite gentle (considering how harsh the winter is in your part of the world). Your composition is beautiful too, you've included a lot of the ice at bottom (some would crop it further up, but by leaving it you give the picture a reservoir out of which the ice meanders) and I too like the tall trees and the fact that you caught them as an integral part of the whole. You caught one tree at one bend and two at another and the pic really does bend for us...and the sky is beautiful, coming down as it does, right into the picture; so is the red barn. You said this was your "private rink": Is this your property or nearby? Forgive if i don't remember... And re. dig vs. analog/postwork vs none: Of course darkrooms were the Photoshop of their day, so the old analog masters would do postwork...but the really important question is how well postwork is used; and if one wants to create camera art, how they speak and see through the camera. You pour your inner eye through the camera, and it gives you back the world in return. Another beautiful capture in this series, full, sensitive and very much the photographer's art.

Its ice - but the reflections are great. Interesting structure, it will past very quickly soon. I enjoy it as I enjoy winter.

I dont know where you live exactly... as I see your winter pics it must be an extremely cold place... but beautiful. great Jodie.

Very nice. And yes while it is great to get that shot right out of the camera that just works, it is also fun to play with a photo every now and then. You have such beautiful work I was going back a bit.. lovely gallery
