Description

Balloons en masse. Fifth in a series captured on film October 1988 at the Hot Air Balloon Festival, held annually in beautiful Albuquerque, New Mexico. See the February 24, 2009 posting of No. 1 for more details on my trip. A zoom view reveals much more detail. The bottom pic shows the balloons hovering dangerously near some high power lines, which is kind of puzzling. Apparently, the pilots (balloonnauts?) must be most adept at steering their lighter-than-air craft around such potentially perilous obstacles. And, yes, that's a Diet Pepsi can-shaped balloon over at the extreme right. There were other whimsical balloons at the festival also, e.g., Mickey Mouse. I have prints of those somewhere, have extensively searched the closet where I normally keep that stuff, but still can't locate them. Sorry about that. Thankx for coming by, and have a hale and hearty hump day.

That must of been a blast Harry! I don't think there is a feeling like being up at 4000 feet in a balloon. Totally quiet and peaceful. I have to get to New Mexico when there is that festival again. Looks like you got some great shots too!

The sky looks literally littered with balloonists. I wonder about those power lines too, seems a bit perilous...This is a wonderful confetti spread of color!

What fun to see them all in the sky - floating around! I guess they're not that close to the power lines. Whew...

OK, Harry. Now, the next time we will expect photos of you getting in the basket and then looking down as you merrily roll/float along. Good collage. It must be a big thrill to see and even more of a thrill to be aloft in a crowd like this. :-)
