Description

Just a bit of history of Lancashire Darwen tower stands at eighty five feet in height and was built in 1898 to celebrate Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee.Over looking the town of Darwen the octagonal tower was also to celebrate the victory of the local people for right of access to the moor when, after a long legal dispute with the lord of the manor who was the owner of shooting rights, Darwen Moor became public property. You can climb to the top of the tower via an internal stair case where ( on clear day ) views can be seen as far as Yorkshire, Morcambe Bay, Blackpool the mountains of Cumbria and the Isle of Man,
