Description

I did several images for Marilyn, but chose these 'dreams' because I wanted to paint the exuberance & burst I get from her gallery each day. Besides, the bottom is an imaginary sea-urchin, and I just love her captures of the Pacific Ocean... Marilyin, aka beachzz (gallery here), loves life. I mean that! She loves to capture life too. To her, the world is filled with photographs waiting to be taken, from her garden to ravaged shorelines, friends' houses, wild birds, you name it...She'll capture everything from a delicate vase in the most sensitive light to a plant that twists & spills in so many directions, you realize she's not captured an 'overgrown plant' but a big exuberant party for the eye. She gets both. Her eye is always seeking... And if she doesn't get the shot she wanted, she'll tell you, then postwork it, then tell you how, and post it as a brand new piece. I can't tell you how much I appreciate that: She experiments as well as plans, laughs with the camera as well as studies with it, and never puts up a piece without giving it her all. She writes too which, as a writer, I've always admired: beautifully concise poems of her life which feel like little jewels and are often funny as well... Marilyn, your gallery has been a starburst for me. There's an exuberance mixed with beauty, you just love what you do, you've never lost the child in you and your gallery's been a genuine dance. My pics (please zoom!) are mere portraits of that, but if they capture a bit of your light, I'm happy. Your joie de vivre is infectious, your captures of a part of the world I never see have been beautiful & whole lot of fun, and it's been a pleasure to walk under your eaves & I hope to do so for many more years to come...

Mark, Marilyn is among my friends and favorite artists too and I totally concur with all your words above. I am not sure how you created your bursts of colorful shapes above but they fully succeed in fulfilling your stated purpose. Well done.

have read that each of us give off a light, a vibration that some can see (aura) I celebrate with you Marilyn in sharing your gift. Mark's work on these is exceptional in that it jumps forth at the viewer and shouts life! How appropriate the dedication in Spring. Thank you both Marilyn and our resident Tribute orator Mark who doesn't let one pass by untouched in life. What a gift you both are.

Wow Mark, all I can say is that this dedication to your friend Marilyn is simly wonderful and one of your best. First of all your description of her and the way she sees life and goes about capturing images from it makes me want to go check out her gallery. As for your wonderful images here to her for me they are more than just dreams of light, they are literally a celebration of light. I say that because each image seems to almost be alive and dancing. Great work Mark, really started my day out right.

I read the text,i picked the link to Marilyn´s galery, i did zoom of your painting and i only can say that you made a beautiful "sketch" of your friend. You unified dreams and reality, with emotion and much lightness in your draw, showing us a powerful life, lived with the joy of the litle and great things. Your painting is a GREAT PARTY of the all colours...an emotional dancing of shapes and textures in the midst of a stunning luminosity: IT´S ALIVE. Mark,You did an impressive and wonderful present for Marilyn.. and all are beautiful but the 3 rd is really fantastic!!

This is very unique and creative. It reminds me of macro photography and yet it has the essence of the spirit of the artist captured in this as well. Marvelous work my friend and a beautiful dedi.

Each of these is an epiphany in itself and as a wonderful trio - one flows into the other very well. I don't know Marilyn very well but if this is my first introduction to her as a person and an artist - I would be sold! This is light in creation. The first budding of positive energy and love evolving right in front of our eyes. There is so much yet to learn from these images and we are coaxed to watch, wait and see what is next!

Ahhh yes, Marilyn has the most wonderful bright coloured gallery, that she created for us all to go to possibly in a down mood, but soon to be uplifted by the vibrant colours that she so enjoys that are within it. This is a wonderful celebration of Marilyn's artwork dear Mark, and you have created it in a loving way for your fellow artist, a fabulous dedi for a lovely lady, to be sure. Keep up the great work my friend, hugs Jane xx
