Description

Mrs Ratbag, Denise, has had a problem getting a decent photo of a heron. and I have to admit that they are not the easiest of birds to photograph, especially when they aren't around. Besided riding my bicycle, I do enjoy walking and today I chose to walk home from work, (it's about 3 to 3.5 miles from work to home). I took my camera, of course, and went another route to home. This took me to the last bridge that crosses the Washougal River before it flows into the Columbia River. In all, I took over 71 pictures today, including 4 pictures of a Blue Heron who seemed to pose for me. So I've got several of him standing there on this jetty of wood and 1 or 2 of him flying away. So this picture is for you Denise! I also got several very nice pictures of two pair of mated geese who like to wander around the area. I'll be posting those later on as well as other water shots and other different shots. I hope everyone has a great weekend. Beautiful capture!! And yes, definitely they are very hard birds to photograph. I myself have tried many times but as soon as I lift up the camera to focus they fly away!!

Excellent capture. Have herons all over the place, come take their pictures for me - maybe they will go away if they are that camera shy and stop stealing fish from our pond! LOL
