Description

The border is a place where one can find every type of commodity, either material or immaterial. The border is the kingdom of the market, where everything depends on the laws of the supply and demand. The more he thought about his circumstances, the more Jay Sea realized that S'saskesh, the Martian town, was the safest place for him. At least, until he discovered who had fri***ing bu***red him. S'saskesh was close to Bradburyton and the astroport, and it also allowed some measure of privacy, because, even if it was patrolled by the S-Marines, the top ruperts never came to the native shantytown. "His" Martians' house (he had nicknamed them Eve and Adam, because of the serpent) would be a perfect hiding place. But he didn't know how long he could be their guest. "You can stay as long as you like; you can go wherever you like, and go away if you feel like," Eve told him, anticipating his questions as usual. "Thanks" he replied. "I think I'll accept your hospitality. BTW can you find a weapon and some documents for me?" "Here you can buy everything, even a space cruiser,if you have enough money". Of course Jay Sea had neither money nor documents. The alien kids had found nothing on him; only a nut-case would have left a precious Earthener pass, high on the hit parade of the black market. "I've no money, Jay Sea said, but I could find a job". Eve looked at him thoughtfully and said "I play at the Swimming Club. Sometimes someone looks for trouble. You can come with me as my bodyguard. I can say you are a half-breed... there are some of them. But to be credible you need some tattooing". J. S. was so excited at the idea of the Swimming Club. It was the perfect place where you could discover something keeping your eyes wide open, eavesdropping... "When am I going to begin?" "Immediately - she told him - sit down!" Adam come closer and gave him a knife. "A present for you". "Yes, not bad for a day that had started lousy!". Thank you to all people who appreciated the previous picture! when I read this in the .pdf, I didn't spend as much time with the visual; I was probably concentrating on the complexity of the storyline. But now I do, and see what delights you have in it. The story now takes us into the actual events that J's about to encounter, and shows the other 4 to be kind for the time being. Nice setup. And the image shows the passing of the knife, and Eve looking-on seemingly with care. We can see the difference between Jay and the martians, even though they both have human features. But those kids: They're just plain kids, looking on devilishly & doing what kids do! Love how Jetsam is dancing in the background, just like a kid---we don't know what she's up to or thinking, but she adds a delightful counterpoint to the tale. Delightfully done! Oh, and the background architecture shows your sense of architectural detail, which we've seen in your earlier images & your photography. You use that detail very well, as you do here. Very fine border-town details.
