Description
This dedication is for a very dear friend of mine Marcia Gomes (MarciaGomes). Marcia and her husband Flavio Kern are truly wonderful people and almost like family to me. Marcia is a very caring lady and it shows in the lovely images she creates. Her art always has a happy and postive theme, and her gallery is a great place to go for a good time. This is a story Marcia shared with me from her childhood that I wanted to share with all of you my friends. With all the negative news everywhere it's nice to have something happy to focus on.
Rodeo Queen (For MarciaGomes): When Marcia was a little girl her and her dog Gaby would walk by her aunt's home every day on their way home. She loved the beautiful horse that her aunt had and she dreamed one day of riding it. But poor Marcia was by herself and had no way of making her dream come true. Late one evening Marcia saw the horse had a bridle on and she got a great idea. Her and Gaby went into the pen and she tied the bridle of the horse to the fence. Carefully Marcia climbed a tree next to the horse, she had a great idea of leaping from the tree onto the back of the horse. Then she would be able to ride him and make her dream come true. I tried to capture that moment here and hope you like it. Okay so you want to know what happened ? Well Gaby started barking and scared the horse just as Marcia was jumping. The horse moved and poor little Marcia tumbled to the ground. Thanks for listening, hope you got a smile.
Dave
P.S. I know Marcia would want me to say this but we are both very sad about Cecilia (SSoffia) leaving the communtiy. She wrote me a letter the other day to tell me that a few people had been very mean to her and she no longer felt comfortable here. It is a sad day when someone that nice no longer feels welcome. I am trying to talk her into staying and hope you will join me.

first dave, as it always goes without saying, everytime I come here I can't believe the work you do for people: Not only telling the story, but always introducing people with such love, and even urging us to remember someone, etc. I just looked briefly at Cecilia's gallery, and I will write to her too. Unkind behavior is hard, but I hope she will come back for those who love her, as the unkind ones aren't worth it...But then there's your multilingual translation; and that doesn't count all the people you keep up with, the letters and of course the daily comments—which you almost never ever miss (except for the most dire circumstances). And that's not counting your life outside of rosity. So beyond anything else, another 10,000 bows to what you do, period. It's just amazing. As for the image: First thing I saw was the light: You really did get the cast of evening in this piece, something I assume isn't easy to do. That is, to keep the strange glow of twilight consistent throughout, and still highlight Marcia and the horse & dog. But then there's the detail: You cared enough to show her lower torso twisted away from the direction of her head & jump: The belt buckle (which is another of your sensitive details) is slightly more to our left than her face, etc. This shows real understanding of human form & expression, especially if you don't normally draw people by hand. And her body is going in 4 directions really, one for each limb; and you capture them with full fidelity. Then there's Gaby, whose posture is also complex and utterly true to dogs. And the lighting & details on the horse are beautifully rendered, and I especially like the face and the nap of the hair. Then your shadows too: They look like they demanded great deal of thought, and you placed them in so many places and they are all 'true'. Then there are your 'extras' like the bird on the fence or branch, the subtle dappling of light on the leaves, or the leaf shadows along the bark, which I found particularly beautiful. And above all, there's the mystery and anticipation of the moment itself, of a child about to fulfill a dream, with all the intensity that implies. This 'capture of the magical moment' is something you do beautifully over & over. The twilight lighting helps, the shadows help, and the suspended animation of Marcia—pulled in several directions—helps. You even gave a big bold blue rein on the horse, which stands out like a holiday decoration. It's another deeply thought-through realization, with true details and in which everything comes together to capture that eternal moment of hope & anticipation that we all have known so well. How you do these and still do everything else in your life is beyond me, but you've done it yet again. It's a deep privilege and joy to behold. Beautiful story-telling once more Dave, through art & word & soul. Wonderful, it's just wonderful.

Very cool Dedi to MarciaGomes here and most excellent image and story.. Dave! I hope Cecillia stays too. I don't know why so many folks say such mean things. They are the same folks who decline exiting a public swimming pool to relieve themselves..lol. You know what I mean! Sorry so late in commenting but it's been a very hectic week for me with 14hr days everyday this week. So it's friday night now and I have lots of catching up to do. Anyway, bravo on a most wonderful image my friend. Best regards from Dave :^)

Dave, I think, artisticlly, this is your best one yet. The composition (listen to me, I sound like an art critic!) is perfect, especially the fact that she has so little chance of making this happen. When you get to heaven ( and you will get there!) put in a good word for me. Lie if you have to.

Another wonderful and adurable render!:) Dave, you are able to capture some oftheost wonderful moments! Thankyou for sharing Marcia's story with us. This is a sweet story Marcia! Thank you too for sharing this moment inyour child hood! Dave please let SSoffia know I am thinking of her too. Some people haveno tact and aren't worth the time to make anyone mad. They are what hurt this community. SSoffia know that I for one am sending hope and joy her way!

A wonderful delight Dave, and I read the part about Celilia leaving Renderosity, I had no clue about this, she has always been so sweet and supportive to me, and others here, I can't imagine why anyone would feel a need to criticize her. I sure hope she will reconsider. Thank you for your wonderful artwork and friendships you share with this community.

Excellent Dave!!!!!!!

This is such a delightful story and image. It made me smile. I hope Marcia didn't get hurt when she fell. That's too bad that someone was mean to Cecilia. I hope you can convince her to stay.

Great late afternoon scenery! At least this horse wasn't evil like the one you had to deal with, just only scared off by Gaby. :)

You've done an amazing job capturing her leap from the tree. Thank you for sharing this story with us. I do think most of us can use a little bit of brightness in our lives these days and you can always be counted on to provide it.
Seaview123
Thats a great story, Dave, and your illustration captures it perfectly. Another excellent example of how our 3D artwork can be used to do more than just make pinups (although those are nice, too). Sorry to hear about 'SSofia', and even more upset that folks would drive another artist away. Here's hoping she changes her mind.

You never cease to amaze me with your imaginataion and poser work Dave, I love this render!!! You'd make a GREAT storybook illustrator! Your color, texturing and subject matter as always is right on. Great work my friend!!! High regards!

Great concept! I love how the little girl is swinging from the tree with a look of excitement and anxiety. And the dog barking up the tree gives a bit of foreshadowing making us wonder what will happen even without reading your narrative. You are a wonderful storyteller in words and images. You have a gift for discovering such fun anecdotes from people's childhoods, too. Well done.
