Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Nice fellow to have in your garden. He keeps the birds singing and the wolves at bay. Nice moody light and setting.

And he's got a bird on his arm...most fitting for the setting. Well done.

Great shot, he looks good leaning against the tree and talking to his bird friend. I have a St Francis too, the one I sent my parents when they lived in the desert. Since they've come to live with me he came too, and now presides over my backyard.

He fits in perfectly there! I like what you've done to the pic.

Apparently, it was the work of the wee ones, possibly the leprechauns, that left the statue of St Francis of Assisi for you to find, Maz. In any event, nice lighting effects in this one. And, actually, when used in its most eloquent Irish brogue, it's "Saints PresArve Us."

yes, it's a creative angle & creative capture, with many interesting things all around him. I love how he comes out of the base branches of the plant, almost like snakes that are protecting him; and you have some other great looking objects in the shot too (I assume already in the plant to begin with). And like Denise says, he's looking down on a bird, probably speaking to it. Also, you've got some really interesting stuff behind the plant: In this cloistered angle it looks like you have a whole jungle back there! Nice burgeoning capture, he belongs there, it's where he'd want to be if he could tell you.
