belong to a website www.theartistchallenge.com who's themes each month are voted on by the members. We select a topic and research it then give our presentation based upon our research direction. As am one to take a word or phrase and begin work on a new piece this type of challenge appeals to me. Although am aware this type of work may not be "marketable" enjoy the concept of working like this. Find it stimulating and little bit challenging in direction each month.

I'd think you'd have to do work for yourself right alongside the work you do for the market, though this has such charm I'd be surprised that people wouldn't buy it if you offered it for sale. There is a sense of this cosmic fool who has the earth beneath her (it looks like a her) and who may, through all her play, be protecting the earth even as she warns it...and your application of paint and inks, the splatter & splash & almost marble-like textures of the sky is wonderful, as is the texturing on the moon, and this woman's multi-speckled gown. Great that you used gold leaf, it's still a wonderful technique and it gives the piece a certain 'presentational' feeling, like it's made to be seen on a special day or celebration. You know I love your way with hue & light & dark: This has those qualities. And overall it's a folk-like & intense piece. I like it very much, it's for the adult & child in everyone.

Yes Anahata, my thought was that The court jester employed props, danced, poked fun mocked and told endless stories to entertain and mystify the audience. Behind some tales truth lay hidden for listener to discover and consider. Here the mischief maker dances across our good earth pointing to the future the shadow of what might be should we continue to be ignorant in our own daily dance of what is freely given from Mother Earth. Was reading about the northern Cree people. When the Aurora begins to start the display of lights the Spirits come out to Dance as they believed. The only element that was bit unhappy with is the fact that the materials used may not have been "enviromentally" right for the theme. It's finished with a high gloss acrylic resin. Thank you both for the positive remarks. Am looking at folk art and do see that your right on in your insight. seems that have absorbed the styles without being aware until it was down on canvas.

'Morning Meg - So this becomes another of my faves ... how dare you : ) but then again ... I know what appeals to me. I love Chagall + your texture work is really one of the highs here. a united,marble-ized, bubbly universe ... most of all this all came from the wonder of your imagination. always a fan, -Julian

We are 'fools' indeed to treat the gift of this earth with such uncaring. A most unique and creative artwork. CC

fools we are and we drop this and that, for whatever reason. yet i always wonder ... why. it could all be so easy, sometimes it seems to me, that the so called realists like bankers for example, are the real dreamers, dreaming a dream of something that is so limited, just for a lifetime. i like your take on this, its quite wonderful done, funny, sad and thought provoking!
