Hello! My name is Jodie. I live in Minnesota where the temps can fluxuate by 20 degrees in one day. Most of my photos have been taken very close to my home, a 10 acre hobby farm., where I raise Alpacas and chickens. I am a band director, a musician/singer and a photographer/adviser on the yearbook committee. My camera of choice is a Nikon. I have a D90 and a D70. I also have a SB800 flash and favorite lens is Nikon 18-200mm AF-S, with VR. Revisiting the visual arts is something I should have done years ago. If I see something remarkable, I just try to capture it. Nobody else will ever see it quite that way again so I hope you try that, too. This is just like expensive therapy for us. Thank you for visiting and may you have a peaceful day!

Wow, quite a shot. You must not be drinking coffee to shoot like that without a tripod. If this were a movie, the next scene would be the guy breaking through the ice with either comic or tragic results depending on the tone of the movie. Hopefully this story didn't end that way. Spring is welcome after a harsh winter, isn't it?

What a great shot and title Jodie, looks like from your figures, you have good thaw on the way.

Stellar long distance shot from your car of a probably vain attempt to rescue the overly confident fisherman, who, at best, was pulled out of the water half frozen, or, at worst, is now long gone at the bottom of the lake.

This gives me the shivers looking at him! I couldn't go out on the ice at this time of the year. Wonderful candid shot.

it's great to read the comments, people shivering, Andrea saying she could never live there (I'm not too fond of it either!) and Harry lamenting the poor bloke now at the bottom of the lake: One picture & we're all freezing and mourning a stranger! I'm always amazed when people get good shots out a car window, but I guess that comes with experience. (And was "no tripod" a photography joke? I mean, do you 'ever' use a tripod in a car? I don't know, but I'd think it rather clumsy.) I like the striated lines of the water, the hazy blue—from being in a car maybe, or maybe just diffuse Minn. winter light—and those oh-so North Midwestern looking buildings & skyline. The fisherman is so peaceful hunched up out there. I like the mood of this shot, and the sweep. And I hope the guy didn't fall in...Nice quiet blued-out shot of what's probably a typical landscape where you live. And if people don't know, they should know that there are a lot of lakes up there. Really nice piece, Jodie...

Beautiful place.I love the horizontal branches you ´ve captured! The water looks so good to go into..but i guess your 43 degrees are not in my usual scale...must be cold there. You have a "good-hand" without tripod. It´s a challenge isn´t? Great picture you did!
