UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Great to have a 'living' memorial, rather than just a static one!

I love the water stopped in mid-air. It's beautiful as-captured, and no, I didn't know about it.

Stoped the action well here Bill, I like this a lot, now you can zip on over to Kauffman, and get those big ole fountains by the scoreboard :)
drace68
Did not know about the memorial either. Will have to admit being a fan of all vertical fountains.

New DSLR... I'm envious... What make/model? Delightful capture by the way....!!!!

Wonderful idea and shot Bill

Ancient Cybershot or not, I think the foto came out very well, what with the plumes and drops of water caught frozen in the air like that. Of course, the white of the water contrasted against the dark background aided considerably in this capture.

I did not know that. I like this picture. It will be interesting to see the new picture with different camera.

Pretty cool shot, although I do know what you mean about going from a point & shoot to a dslr, miles of difference between them. I'll look forward to the new photos shoot. : )

I love fountains and you captured this one beautifully. I did not know about this and my sister used to live not far, I'll have to ask her if she ever saw it!!

I love the way the light dances on the water. Beautiful!!

I agree with the above, the water does have light & dance, and it stands out well against the background. It shimmers. (Maybe the grain is heavy? I don't know, I don't know photographic terms very well.) But the shimmering waters I'm sure would've meant something to the soldiers. And it has to be said: WWI gets further & further away from us, with each passing year; and really no one should forget. It was staggering & so utterly preventable, and (I'm sure you know) there were battles where huge casualties piled up and absolutely no land, no advantage, nothing was gained. (Verdun.) It also was the first major war with chemical warfare (gas), and it left Europe crushed & primed for the terrible things to follow. Everyone should study it, it's a very sobering piece of history; so I'm grateful you uploaded it for that reason as well...a conscientious choice for a site devoted to its antidote (ie, beauty)...

This came out very well, Bill, and it will be interesting to see the difference when you use your DSLR when possible. I think you will be pleasantly surprised!

Maybe it's just me, Bill but, problems??? It looks mighty fine to me! You have caught the water movement along with light shimmering on it! The stonework could be brighter in colour maybe, but that's nothing Pshop wouldn't fix! So, problems? Damned good shot, mate! Rob. (There! That's a very technical comment for me!)

Beautiful work ! :)

You have caught this water beautifully. It really sparkles.
