Description

I have to be away for a few days (unexpected), but I'll return to your galleries by the weekend. I hope to be back by Friday... In the meantime, another in a series of rocks! (I like rocks, whaddya gonna do...) Pencil & pen, mercilessly tortured in Photoshop. Hope you enjoy the result...
* * * * * * Thanks for all your wonderful visits, they mean the world to me. Have a great day! Mark

Ya know what.... it really DOES look like an aerial view. I was just studying the map of the Red River Valley, noticing the huge basin left by the ancient lake. This art work is quite similar. You can see the rugged terrain and the depths of the caverns. There are smooth surfaces too where the water must have cascaded and smoothed out the rough spots. Of course, the colors indicate the heat sensitive areas. Very well done!!

I see my favorite swimming hole, the big, round warm rock I lie on, and a world of peace and quiet. Have a good week and we'll see you when you get back.

Have a safe journey Mark and return when you can as you and your art will be missed. This one is splendid as the idea you took on for this image really gave you a chance to be super creative. This arial view is filled with so much color and detail that it makes it such a pleasure to view. Love the way you included what looks like worn areas as well as a lot of ridge detail.

A REALLY 3D MAP.Magical contrasts of colours and textures.Deep and sweet. The blues are the most attractives, BUT my eyes have fixed on a blue point in the midst of the image and i see everything growing from there. I like it very much.

Well another great merciless torture in photoshop it is! You are too modest grat vibrant colours and textures reminds me of palette knife work apart from the colours would be impossible to reproduce with normal paints..

Oh my. My focus is always pulled to a particular place in your compositions it seems..and this one brings no exception, thankfully. I see a bird, a symbolic bird, with an extraordinarily long tail feather, so prefer to interpret as your soul flying, until it happened on this earthen view from far above. Rocks..bring them on, please. I'm a rockhound at heart, always seemingly honing in on a particular energy from them, careful and mindful of their associations and representations. And, while I'm growing older, I hope to never lose the childlike wonder I always feel when I encounter them. Your post has ignited, rekindled, a spark, one which I obviously desperately need in the creative realm these days, Mark. So, abundant thanks. I think I'll revisit a long-ago series I'd begun on mineral representations. Big hug for focusing me back to a place where I find such peace and happiness. Safe journey. Come back to us safely, and a little more whole even than you were before it. It should always be this way with journeys, no matter the reason for them.. Lovely, lovely work, of course. Expansive..and free.

its amazing how different you are, its amazing how different each one of us is! there are worlds to discover between us all. looking at others art is the finest way of education i can think of. its a joy and so, i look at this in awe, asking me, what is going on there in mark's laboratories, what keeps him doing his work the way he does :) this is all a wild adventure on its own :) have a great time off, mark, take care!
