Good evening to all here at RR! SURFIN`AND FISHIN`- This pic is dedicated to a wonderful lady from Toronto: Lucindawind! Lu, do you remember the discussion here some month ago about this cormorants? Its a long time ago and I had shown a cormorant`s pic here in my gallery..... We have two small colonies of this fishing robbers here in Berlin, situated at the outer parts of the city at our lakes and rivers. Cormorants were very rare - in 1970 they were part of the "Red List" and nobody gave the 5 or 10 cormorant couples in whole Germany a chance to alive. But a little wonder happened: Since then they could build up a new population. Friends, I was very amazed - and happy, too - to see this rare birds fishin�´directly in the center of the city near my flat. They were a group of 20-30 birds, and on my way to work in the morning they have had their meal and surfed a little on the ice pieces..... Funny! Countless people cross this bridge - nobody noticed this birds and I am sure, the most people don`t know what species they are and how rare they are till today. The cormorants stayed here for about 4 weeks till the day the ice broke up at the rivers and lakes were they normally live. Meanwhile they are gone and I hope to see them back in the next winter.
