Hello again!
This pic is dedicated to all railroad fans here at Renderosity. I took it at the railroad station nearby at 19th february 2009, when the winter came back again with heavy snowfall for a whole day. I searched for pics like this when the snow is blown away by the trains hurrying by....
This is the so called InterCityExpress train system (ICE) of the Deutsche Bahn.
The german ICE system connects nearly 180 cities in Germany and in 6 other counties (France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland and Denmark) The whole system has a volume of 70,5 million passengers per year (2007) and transported from its beginning in 1996 more than a half billion passengers. It brings 8-10% of all money for the company.
Some technical specifications:
-ICE 2 (second generation);
-2 separate trains with 6 coaches, 1 locomotive and 1 drivers seat coach each;
-782 passengers (2x 391 seats);
-2x 4800 kw power (2x 6000 horsepower)
-locomotive weight 77,8 tons each
-44 trains, built 1993-1995;
-in service till 1996;
-located at Berlin-Rummelsburg yard;
-service velocity 280 kilometers/hour on some specialized routes; normal velocity 250 km.
An experimental version reached 406,9 kilometers/ hour at 1st may 1988. This is the highest velocity a railbound train ever reached in Germany
This train here connects the capital Berlin with Koeln and Duesseldorf at the Rhein in 4.18 hours. Regular price 192,-Euro for both directions, with special prices 100,- Euro or less.....

Very impressive and dramatic image (thanks to the near BW tones)… interesting as a beginning of a crime story? I am happy that you retained the color! All the info that you gave on this beautiful hi-speed train is very interesting, especially when compared to similar ones such as the Tokaido and the two models of French TGV (single and double-decker).
