Description

Inspired by a view from the cliffs at Point Loma, San Diego. Birds and the sea are my favorite combination of subjects. Watching birds fly over the sea in a storm saved my life a long time ago: if they can fly in such adverse conditions, so can I. Another sea, other birds and I guess another me too:) Watercolor painting - Winsor Newton pigments on Arches paper (300lb cold pressed). Didnt take long to actually paint, but took awhile to plan: I dont use white paint so for anything white or pale I need to preserve the white of the paper. I hope you like it.

I love the muted colors and the combination of flying birds and floating birds. The multi-colored ocean is looking particularly living in that moment you caught! Great work!

Beautiful work, and water is so difficult to capture properly even with a camera! To do that with your hands is amazing to me.

A very beautiful water colour and very clever to use the white of the paper. You have captured the feel of the sea extremely well and the birds make a great addition. Has to be a favourite.

i think this is one of the most technically impressive pieces of your work that i've seen. it's very precise, but still very organic and not too tight. i think the way you used the white of the page is incredible. because it seems very natural and flowing, and the white is most often the foreground. i really love it; it makes me miss the ocean.

This is lovely. The birds look like they are really bobbing up and down with the waves! A colors make for a very peaceful, yet active, scene. PS: Thank you SO much for your comments on my recent image. It helps greatly to get some serious feedback!!
