Yep! The face of war! I've seen it one the faces of troops coming back from Afghanistan as well. Lines under the eyes.....Looks of stress. Exhaustion etched on their faces...... Over worked, under paid and in a war they should be in..... Great and worthy picture, my friend! Rob.

I've seen an even worse image: it was a photograph from WWI western front; an english soldier was sitting on the bottom of a trench, with other soldiers around, all bandaged, and he was looking at the camera, with a chillingly demented SMILE... Obviously, the 1000 yds. look is just the entry point to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) which can rear its ugly face even years after the traumatic event. Bye!!!

It seems the blurring part is not very smooth. Increased smoothness in shadows adding depth. suika game

It looks like there's some roughness with the blurring. Deeper shadows with enhanced smoothness. spacebar clicker

The illustration titled "1000 Yard Stare," inspired by E.B. Sledge's With the Old Breed, captures the haunting effects of war. Sledge’s firsthand account of the brutal battles at Peleliu and Okinawa provides a raw, unfiltered look into the psychological toll of combat, and the "thousand-yard stare" is a powerful symbol of that trauma. The illustration likely reflects the deep emotional scars left on soldiers, making it a fitting tribute to one of the most compelling memoirs of World War II. tubidy, tubidy
