Description

I thought I posted this earlier today, I must've had some kind of brain malfunction!! Anyway, it's a chunk of that wood** I stacked last week. Oak, which always has the most amazing lichen and moss on it. That's why I had to dedicate this one to Andrea and Denise, it just reminded me of both of them. A little story--years ago I got a cord of oak, and couldn't get to it right away. One day it rained and the moss and lichens came back to life--almost a neon green!! **wood

incredible. I've seen many closeups of mosses, and I've never seen one like this. Your eye takes you to amazing places...these look like twine and ropes, it's just uncanny. I know they're mosses, I can see it, but your light, your angle, the whole thing, it looks like ropes of various kinds. Love this shot. A fav. (one more, and 1000!!!)

Superlative light, deep shadow and textures in this shot, Maz! A most unusual variety of mosses and lichens, a category which I'm not too familiar with. They resemble long spears of skinny asparagus. Your next one is the Big One, M.
