Description
Bit of a large project considering the fog my mind is always in.
Was inspired months ago when I was flying around on my dragon in World of Warcraft. It has evolved quite a bit in that time though.
Dragon and elf done in Daz Studio.
Background done in Bryce and Daz Studio.. (Actually, the vast majority of the work) It looks simple, but was quite hard getting the landscape, textures, fog and light the way I wanted. The castle was done in Daz and imported into Bryce.
Lots of custom work in Paintshop Pro.
(Am not real sure which gallery this really belongs in actually.. chose DAZ since the characters were rendered in DAZ even though most of the work was done in Bryce and PSP.)
Full size recommended as I think this loses a lot of impact in the shrunken form.
Credits:
Subdragon, V4, Frostbite costume, Nieves texture, Castle Builder, Roman Shoes, Young Adventurers Tiara, Vayne Braid etc., are available at DAZ.

Dragon eyes are from georgehaze's free metal shaders.

the blues here have the day, and you have all kinds of variations of them, and the layering of the sky beneath the dragon's wings is quite subtle and I think beautiful. The building tops below are present but as whispers more than bold architecture; and you put some luminous bands above the dragon and rider, which gives light to the dark patina. A deep blue shot, many beautiful variations on the hue; and the dragon has beautiful detail, very clear for the dark that he's in; and holds his legs out as if this is an everyday thing for him (which it probably is). And don't worry, I always look full-size, I figure it's what the artist intended, and seeing it small is like seeing a fine film pan & scan, it just doesn't look right. Fine & articulate work with a deep early morning mood...

Fantastic and excellent work. It does seem the simplest of images are the most complicated to do and unless people do them, they don't realize how much time it takes. Marvelous scene!

Oh my gosh, this is just stupendous! The Dragon is very handsome, regal and powerful. Her eyea are mesmerizing! Her rider is beautiful, worthy of the honor the Dragon gives her by allowing her to ride thus. The background is truly breathtaking! It so compliments the Dragon and rider. I love the touch of winter dawn just above the Dragon's wings highliting the mountain tops, and how it fades under her wings, hinting at the mountainous terrain, darkening until we can just make out the castle below in the darkness of the valley .. Fantastic render Sandy! Awesome work! Full view a must!

This is truely one of the finest subdragons I have seen. Beautiful blues gives a somber mood to the scene. Metalic eyes really pop out. Posing seems very natural. Glad to see you are still creating despite the adversity. Keep the faith.

Beautifully done, I love the posing and the small structures give a great sense of scale, the overall blue tone is really offset by the amber eyes
