Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

An old wooden coaster or a slick new coaster:)? Doesn't matter,...same thrills and chills. Love your words. You slowly pull us up with you, dump us down and allow us to coast back in with you to do it all over again. Just outstanding.

Wonderfully written! You take us up and slam us down, and I can feel every peak and valley! Excellent work.

I can't add anything better than what Bill and Tara wrote. Your poem moved like a roller coaster, just as tara said, it moved us up & down as Bill said, and at the end you didn't so much get off it as just accept it. You always breathe truly in your poems, they move as you feel, which is why poetry is such a good medium in your hands. Fine work, Marilyn. (I like the photo too. It could be an upload in itself!) Ok, I'll tell you this story because it's exactly what you wrote about...A great yogi lost a dear friend—this was true—and everyone assumed he'd be tranquil about it. So he sat everyone down and said: "When I'm in meditation, I am at peace with my dear friend's passage. But when I come back to the normal plane, I'm wrenched in pain, because I've lost a dear friend and can't believe he's gone." And he leaned forward and said: "It's ok to feel both: It's part of being human." Thought you'd appreciate that from the mouth of a 'serene yogi'...

Splendid prose to go along with the magnificent colors and silhouetting in the image, Maz! Life is a Roller Coaster to join ranks with other titles such as Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries and Life is Like a Box of Chocolates.

Beautiful words.Stunning struture. The title is really true:a world of feelings and sensations.

Very well summarized and put into words. There is a lot unsaid between the top and the bottom though.

Would you have it any other way? And what is normal - the top, the bottom, or coasting to the next peak/trough...??? Excellent writing.
