the black material is cinders from the volcano that erupted around 1064AD . the landscape here is so surreal thanks for viewing and any comments I replaced the sky since the original was more surreal than the landscape

This is such a fascinating place. I find it interesting that there are some plants thats are growing through the volcanic ash. Fabulous shot!
