Description

Driving by I see you sitting on your porch Your hand under your chin Resting your face As you watch everyone drive by There is a very far away look in your eyes That I have seen many, many times myself I feel the depression Pouring out of your soul Looking for someone To it take away from you But there is no one there No one there today Behind your fence Setting on your porch There is a dull hurt That is great in size And horrific in pain That no one sees Or takes time to see That doesn't kill you Just makes you wish you were dead I know that place My wayward friend And I wish you weren't there If you ever wondered how or where I come up with so many things to keep writing poetry about this is it. I was driving down the road on my way to the library just a few minutes ago and I saw this gal sitting behind this 6 foot chain link fence looking far far away. She looked to be mid 30's to me. Anyway sometimes I see people or things and it just makes me feel what I think they are feeling. Lol. I could be dead wrong to, who knows it might be her birthday and she is about to have a big party with friends but that is not what I felt when I saw her for that three seconds when I drove by. I hope everyone likes it. Randy

...it's perfect. I know how that feels and you decribed it so perfectly. Your poems always touch me so much, but some more than others. This is one of the "...more than others.". Amazing job as always.

Great poem! You captured the feeling of depression perfectly. Understand too well about it and how a person wishes they weren't there! Well done!

É bem assim meu amigo, a gente vê ou escuta, e derrepente está traduzindo em versos o que nos fez sentir. Brilhante poema. aplausos (5) It is as well my friend, we see or hear, and suddenly is translating into words what made us feel. Brilliant poem. applause (5)

I like it Randy and I really like your explanation of how you become inspired to write...that's of big interest to me. I like reading your poems and I am always asking myself, "Wonder where that came from?" Now, I have a hint. Well done.

Inspiration comes from many places. Whether that's what she was feeling or not, you felt something.

yes I like it too, and I understand how inspiration comes from these moments. Some writers got ideas for whole stories from a single 'snapshot' moment, just like this. You wrote this very nicely, and the way you brought it to your empathetic conclusion was both gentle and engaging, I was with you all the way to the end. Very sensitive and a very nice moment caught in its depth. And nice of you to explain the inspiration too. Sensitive work.
