Description

Making an attempt to get back to my roots by doing some comics inking again, but with a new twist. Instead of my usual pen on paper apprach, this was inked entirely in Manga Studio, over some Jim Lee cover pencil art I grabbed off of his DeviantART page. It took about a day to get the hang of it, but some of the tools are amazingly similar to the hand brushes and quills I'm used to. It took me a full day to ink this, but it was a blast. Thanks for looking! Again, pencil art by Jim Lee, inked by me. :)

Manga Studio is the best comic program out there. I just upgraded to Debut 4 and love it. Nice work. Also, check out a guy named Ray frenden. He is using Painter for inking now but his older stuff is all done with Manga Studio.

Thanks VERY much for posting this. I've got MangaStudio and have used it for some inking, but I was on a tight deadline and never really had the chance to master it. I keep planning to get back to it someday, though. Seeing you achieve such traditional results (and that is definitely a compliment) with the app certainly increases my drive to try it again. Thanks for posting. Incidentally, I was really impressed with the cross hatching you used on Superman's leg. His cape is a bit chaotic looking, but I suspect coloring it would solve that problem. I also really like the light touch you used in the background. It helped make the lead figures "pop" more. Very well done.

This is very sharp looking ink work. I haven't used the Manga Studio program, but it seems to produce pretty spectacular work. Nice image, I see Supes and WW are having another lovers quarrel.
