Description

It is often one of the real pleasures for me to capture something I had not seen before this bird could be described as a Blue Cardinal and is the Blue Grosbeak and related to them.. Native to the United States. They are denizens of waste and scrubland and love to forage in and around this type of habitat.. It is distinguished from the similar Indigo Bunting by its larger size, larger and thicker bill. I was rather intrigued to watch the bird feeding, as it seemed to take these little flowers! Perhaps they had an insect inside. The summer diet consists of many insects and spiders, as well as seeds and occasionally snails. The winter diet consists of a greater proportion of seeds and waste grain, along with whatever else it can find. Thanks for taking time to view and for any comments you care to make still suffering a little with the RSI and doing my best to catch up with you all but it is improving..

What a beautiful bird! I have never seen one here (there are an awful lot of birds who share that particular quality, I'm afraid!) Great capture, and I can see its resemblance to the cardinal.

Beautiful image Danny. I see we both chose a small bird species to post today. I haven't spotted one of these yet but they are suppose to frequent the area that I live in now. I want very much to capture thise species as well as the painted bunting.
