Description

It is often one of the real pleasures for me to capture something I had not seen before this bird could be described as a Blue Cardinal and is the Blue Grosbeak and related to them.. Native to the United States. They are denizens of waste and scrubland and love to forage in and around this type of habitat.. It is distinguished from the similar Indigo Bunting by its larger size, larger and thicker bill. I was rather intrigued to watch the bird feeding, as it seemed to take these little flowers! Perhaps they had an insect inside. The summer diet consists of many insects and spiders, as well as seeds and occasionally snails. The winter diet consists of a greater proportion of seeds and waste grain, along with whatever else it can find. Thanks for taking time to view and for any comments you care to make still suffering a little with the RSI and doing my best to catch up with you all but it is improving..

everything should be seen full-size, but pics like this are a must: Full-view, the bird stands out like a vivid patch of blue against this beautiful backdrop. I like that you composed it all to one side, so the trees & green behind it can be seen as an ocean, which makes the bird's perch all the more intimate & essential (ie, against that sweeping backdrop). The Chinese loved compositions like this, with a lot happening in one portion of the painting, and the other half left in space. Or they'd do it by allowing huge sweeps of space drop from the top through a deep valley. More sensitive work from you, and beautiful. Happy Holiday to you and those you love!
