Description

Hi Friends This image was shot in the northern Namib desert! (Stone Desert.) The ocean is about 800m behind my back! This bizarre black colored mountains is very close to the road. The rocks really look like charcoal and is the result of some volcanic activity some eons ago!!! What fascinated me most was the life all around me. There where some plants flowering on the rocks and a myriad species of lichen flourishing on the rocks in the foreground. I took some close-ups of the lichen and will post them soon. This is also the spot where I had a very close encounter with a very poisonous scorpion, but more about that later!!! Thank you for you very kind comments and favs on my dunes upload of last night!!! Take care! Hugs, Carin xx

Outstanding. The colorful foreground completely offsets the gray, foreboding background. Nice shooting:)

Wonderful. These are moistened by the sea mists at night? And is this "The Skeleton Coast?"

You live an adventurous, devil-may-care life indeed, Carin! The bizarre black mountains at the top of the image with the undulating spike formations immediately remind me of a stegosaurus dinosaur. And I really like the brutish highly textured rocks in the foreground. Shades of 1,000,000 BC in this photo!

What a surreal landscape!! It looks like something out of the old Star Trek series or the old Lost in Space series from tv. Amazing place this is and a wonderful capture, Carin!
